Women's NCAA Gymnastics Conference Championships

BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The Big 12 Championships will be held on the 23rd of March at the Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus. Competition will get underway at 2.00pm (local time). The University of Oklahoma team will be looking to retain the title they earned last year.
ROTATION SCHEDULE:

  • West Virginia University - Starting on Floor Exercise
BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The Big 10 Championships will take place on the 23rd of March at the Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Michigan. Nebraska will hope to win a consecutive team title with Emily Wong and Jessie DeZiel as well as Michigan's Sachi Sugiyama hoping to retain the titles that they earned last season. The competition is divided into two sessions - the first beginning at 1.00pm E.T. and the second starting at 6.00pm E.T.

The EAGL Championships are set for 2.00pm (E.T.) on the 23rd of March at the Carmichael Arena on the University of North Carolina campus. Reigning champions West Virginia are no longer a part of the EAGL conference and as such the team title could be anyone's!

EAST COLLEGE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (ECAC) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The 2013 ECAC Championships will be held on the 23rd of March at the Newman Arena on the Cornell University Campus. Competition will get underway at 12.00pm in Ithaca, New York and will see teams from Cornell University, College at William & Mary, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Yale. UPenn took out the team title last year and Penn's Kirsten Strausbaugh will be hoping to recapture the Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise titles she won last year, whilst William & Mary's Brandy Stover will be hoping to defend her Balance Beam title.
 
ECAC DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The ECAC Division II Championships will be held on the 23rd of March at the Wheeler Recreation Center with competition beginning at 1.00pm (local time). Teams from the University of Brideport, West Chester University and Southern Connecticut State University will be taking part.

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE (MAC) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The 2013 MAC Championships will take place from 2.05pm (local time) on the 23rd of March at the University Arena on the Western Michigan University campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Central Michigan will be aiming for a forth consecutive team title.

MIDWEST INDEPENDENT CONFERENCE (MIC) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The MIC Championship will be held on the 23rd of March in the Gold Dome on the Centenary College campus in Shreveport, Louisiana. Competition is set to go underway at 5.00pm (Local Time) with Illinois State University hoping to win their second-consecutive team title. The other teams in action in Louisiana will be Centenary College, University of Illinois-Chicago, Southeastern Missouri State University, Texas Women's University and newcomers Lindenwood University.

MOUNTAIN PACIFIC SPORTS FEDERATION (MPSF) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The MPSF Championships will be taking place on the 23rd March at the Brougham Pavilion in Seattle, Washington with competition beginning at 6.00pm Pacific Time. University of California-Davis will be aiming to capture their fourth consecutive team title, after winning the title in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Other teams competing in the MPSF Championships are the University of Alaska-Anchorage, the U.S. Air Force Academy and Seattle Pacific University.

PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The PAC-12 Championships will be held on the 23rd of March at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon. The competition will see the teams compete in one of two sessions - the first beginning at 1.30pm (PT) and the second commencing at 7.00pm (PT). UCLA will be hoping to defend the title they won last year whilst Stanford's Ivana Hong and UCLA's Vanessa Zamarippa and Olivia Courtney hope to succeed on the Vault with Georgia Dabritz (Utah) and Ashley Morgan (Stanford) hoping to defend the titles they won on the Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise respectively.

SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE (SEC) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The SEC Championships will take place on the 23rd of March at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas. The competition will be divided into two sessions, with seeds 5 to 8 competing in the first beginning at 2.00pm (CT) and seeds 1 to 4 competing in the second which starts at 6pm (CT). Florida will be hoping to defend the Team title they won last year. 2013 SEC Award Winners were announced yesterday: LSU's Rheagan Courville has been named the SEC Gymnast of the Year; Florida's Bridget Sloan has been named the Freshman of the Year, with Rhonda Faehn earning her sixth Coach of the Year award with Alabama's Kim Jacob being named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

WESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE (WAC) CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Competition will take place on the 23rd of March, commencing at 6.00pm MT at the Centrum Arena on the Southern Utah University campus. Denver University won the regular season WAC title going a perfect 4-0 in conference meets this season and will be hoping to retain the WAC Championship Team title they won last year. This will be the final WAC Championships for Gymnastics. Hoping to defend their titles from last year will be: Denver's Moriah Martin (JR) and Melodie Pulgarin Linero (JR) who tied for the Vault honors; Sacramento State's Junior Kailey Hansen who won the Balance Beam and Floor Exercise title. Alyssa Click (Sacramento State) will not be defending the Uneven Bars title she won in 2011 and 2012 after suffering a season ending knee injury during training in January.

Uzbekistan's Oksana Chusovitina won the Vault title at the Turnier der Meister competition in Cottbus, Germany. Noel van Klaveren (Netherlands) won the silver medal on the Vault with Canadian Maegan Chant earning the bronze. Russian Anastasia Grishina was successsful on the Uneven Bars, with Venezuela's Jessica Lopez and Spain's Maria Paula Vargas rounding out the top three. Germany's Matthias Fahrig took out the Floor Exercise honors over Eleftherios Kosmidis of Greece and Israel's Alexander Shatilov. Belgium's Donna Donny Truyens earned the honors on the Pommel Horse, with Slovenian Saso Bertoncelj and China's ZHANG Yang taking out the silver and bronze medals respectively. Greece's Eleftherios Petrounias was the Still Rings gold medalist, earning the title over China's LIU Yang and Dutchman Lambertus Van Gelder. Competition resumes with the second day of event finals at 2.00pm (local time).

Oklahoma Sweeps Big 12 Titles

The University of Oklahoma dominated at the Big 12 Conference Championships, earning the team title over Iowa State University and West Virginia University. Oklahoma Junior Taylor Spears had a fabulous meet, earning the All Around, Uneven Bars (tied with team mate Brie Olson), and Balance Beam (tied with team mate Rebecca Clark) titles and was also named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Year. Freshman Maile'ana Kanewa won the Vault title. Fellow OU Gymnast Haley Scaman (Freshman) who the Floor Exercise and was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Oklahoma head coach K.J. Kindler was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year with Sophomore Lauren Alexander being named the Specialist of the Year. Iowa State's Senior Elizabeth Stranahan was named Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Nebraska Wins Big Ten Champs

The University of Nebraska took out their second consecutive Big Ten team title over the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota. Nebraska's win was a conference championship school record. Junior Emily Wong (Nebraska) took out her second consecutive All Around title and also earned the Floor and Uneven Bars title. Wong also tied for the Balance Beam honors with team mate Jennifer Lauer, Minnesota's Lindsay Mable, and Ohio State's Alyssa Marohn and Sarah Miller. Nebraska's Janelle Giblin, Hollie Blanske, Brittany Skinner, Jessie DeZiel and Michigan's Katie Zurales tied for the Vault title.

North Carolina State Wins EAGL Championships

North Carolina State University earned their first title since 2009 taking the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships team title by 0.075 over the University of Maryland. The University of Pittsburgh finished third. Alyssa Adrian of the University of Pittsburgh took out the All Around title with Betsy Zander (GWU), Kayla Gray (UNH) and North Carolina State's Stephanie Ouellette who tied for second. Maryland's Ally Krikorian won the Vault honors with North Carolina State's Rachel Fincham taking out the Uneven Bars title. New Hampshire's Kayla Gray and NC State's Stephanie Ouellette took out the Balance Beam and Floor Exercise respectively.

Penn Wins ECAC Division I Champs

The University of Pennsylvania Gymnastics team has won back to back ECAC Division I Championship titles. Host Cornell University finished in second with The College at William and Mary finishing in third. William and Mary's Freshman Brittany Stover won the All Around honors with Sophomore Maggie Lundeen taking out the Floor Exercise honors. Cornell Freshman Alicia Bair tied with team mate Sarah Hein (Senior) for the Vault title, with fellow Big Red Junior Melanie Jorgensen taking out the Uneven Bars title. Yale's Brittney Sooksengdao (Freshman) topped the Balance Beam standings.

The University of Bridgeport team dominated the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Championships, taking out their fifth consecutive title and also earning all Individual honors. Sophomore Sasha Tsikhanovich had a stellar competition, earning the All Around, Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise titles. Senior Monica Mesalles Sallares earned the top score on the Vault, with Graduate student Lorraine Galow winning the Balance Beam title.

Central Michigan and Western Michigan Share MAC Title

Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University shared in the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships. This awards Central Michigan a share in their fourth consective Conference title. Kent State University finished in third. Kent State's Marie Case won the All Around title with team mate Rachel Guida earning the honors on the Uneven Bars. Western Michigan's Jessi Buis tied with Jamilah Ali of Bowling Green State University for the Vault title, whilst Alyssa Nocella (Bowling Green State) and Halle Moraw (Central Michigan) took out the Balance Beam and Floor Exercise titles respectively.

First Day of Doha Gymnastics Challenge World Cup Event Finals

The first day of Event Finals at the 6th Doha Gymnastics Challenge World Cup were contested on the 28th of March. PHAN Thi Ha Thanh of Vietnam won the Women's Vault honors over Romania's Larisa Andreea Iordache and Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland. China's TAN Jiaxin won the Uneven Bars title with Great Britain's Ruby Harrold and Gabrielle Jupp rounded out the top three. Romanian Flavius Koczi won the Floor Exercise title with Brazilian Arthur Nory Oyakawa Mariano and Slovenian Rok Klavora rounding out the top three. Hungary's Krisztian Berki won the Pommel Horse title with Japan's Jumpei Oka finishing in second and Vid Hidvegi of Hungary finishing in third. Brazilian Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti won the Still Rings honors with China's LIAO Qiuhua and Armenia's Artur Tovmasyan rounding out the top three.

The International Friendly competition between the Women's Artistic Gymnasts of the United States, Romania and Germany is set to get underway at 2.00pm local time in Chemnitz, Germany. Four teams are set to compete, including a mixed team of USA/GER gymnasts. The team competing for the United States dominated the competition, with Germany and Romania rounding out the top three. Kyla Ross (USA) took out the Senior All Around honors with compatriots Simone Biles and Peyton Ernst tying for second place. USA's Bailie Key took out the Junior title with Romania's Andreea Munteanu and Tabea Alt of Germany rounding out the top three. High scores on each event, were set by Biles on the Vault, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise and Kyla Ross on the Uneven Bars.

Event Finals - Day Two Results at Doha

Romanians Larisa Andreea Iordache and Diana Laura Bulimar won the Balance Beam and Floor Exercise respectively on the final day of Event Finals at the Doha Challenge World Cup. China's ZENG Siqi won the silver medal on the Balance Beam with Gabrielle Jupp of Great Britain winning the bronze medal. Iordache finished second on the Floor Exercise, with ZENG Siqi finishing in third. RI Se Gwang (PRK) topped Vietnam's LE Thanh Phuong and Armenia's Artur Davtyan for the Vault title. Romania's Andrei Vasile Muntean won the Parallel Bars with KIM Jin Hyok (PRK) and China's LIAO Qiuhua rounding out the top three. Whilst Croatian Marijo Moznik earned the Horizontal Bar honors over Netherland's Jeffrey Wammes and Oliver Hegi of Switzerland.

University of Michigan; Mikulak triumphant at Big 10 Championships

Last night saw the Big 10 Men's Gymnastics Championships get underway. Competition is being held at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The University of Michigan topped Penn State University and the University of Minnesota to take the honors. Michigan Junior Sam Mikulak set a record score of 15.950 on the Parallel Bars to take out the Big 10 All Around title. Team mate Adrian De Los Angeles finished second with the University of Iowa's Javier Balboa earning third place. Nebraska's Grant Perdue and Stacey Ervin (Michigan) tied for the high score on the Floor Exercise, whilst Penn State's Craig Hernandez topped the Pommel Horse standings. The University of Illinois' Mike Wilner and Fred Hartville earned the top scores on Still Rings and Vault titles respectively, with Minnesota's Steve Jaciuk topping the Horizontal Bar. The top ten on each event from Friday night will compete in the Individual Event Finals which begin at 7.00pm CDT.

Florida wins Gainesville Regional

The University of Florida dominated the Gainesville Regional,winning over the University of Minnesota and Auburn University. Florida's Kytra Hunter won the All Around title, the Vault title (shared with team mate Ashanee Dickerson, Auburn's Bri Guy, and Minnesota's Lindsay Mable and Jenny Covers), and the Floor Exercise shared with fellow Gator Marissa King. King also earned the honors on the Balance Beam with Bridget Sloan topping the Uneven Bars. The upcoming NCAA National Championships will be Florida's 31st appearance at the National Championships, whilst it will be Minnesota's first appearance since 2002.

The Louisiana State University gymnastics team won the Columbus Regional which was held at the St. John Arena. UCLA finished in second with the University of Arizona finishing in third. LSU's Jessie Jordan tied with Olivia Courtney (UCLA) for the All Around title. Courtney tied with Rheagan Courville of LSU for the Vault title, with Sarie Morrison (LSU) taking out the high score on the Uneven Bars. Jordan also tied with Ohio State's Sarah Miller for the Balance Beam title with the Floor Exercise title going to Louisiana State's Lloimincia Hall.

2013 Tokyo World All Around Cup - FULL Results

The first day of the All Around World Cup Series Final for 2012-2013 is underway in Tokyo, Japan. Women will contest the Vault and Uneven Bars with the Men competing on Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse and Still Rings. United States of America gymnast Danell Leyva will not be competing due to a pain in his left shoulder which got worse during the two days of podium training. After Day One, Peyton Ernst of the USA leads Japan's Asuka Teramoto and Canadian Elsabeth Black. And for the Men, Ukraine's Oleg Verniaiev leads over Japan's Ryohei Kato and Daniel Purvis of Great Britain. 

Asuka Teramoto won the final event of the 2012-2013 All Around World Cup series. American Peyton Ernst finished in second with Canadian Elsabeth Black in third. Ernst top scored on the Floor Exercise, whilst China's SHANG Chunsong earned the high mark on the Balance Beam. Kazuhito Tanaka withdrew from the second day of competition due to an injury to his left foot that was caused on the dismount from the Still Rings on the first day of competition. The Men's top three remained unchanged from the first day. Verniaiev scored the top mark on the Vault, with Ryohei Kato earning the top score on the Parallel Bars and tying for the top mark with Spain's Fabian Gonzalez on the Horizontal Bar.
